The Big Activity Book for Anxious People

After the past year, it’s pretty much a given that we are all extremely anxious. To help us cope with the late nights wondering if we should still be Cloroxing our groceries and the mornings feeling like we might be missing a Zoom call we didn’t know was happening, we’ve turned to this insightful guide made specifically for anxious people. Filled with soothing facts, relaxing coloring pages, and weird coping mechanisms, The Big Activity Book for Anxious People is the book we all need right now. We’re even considering tearing out the page of facts about hand sanitizer and taping it to our mirror.

    Colormorphia

If you love coloring to relax or if you’re trying to be more mindful, we highly recommend checking out this book. Created by professional illustrator Kerby Rosanes, this coloring book is one of our favorites. It’s filled with stunning images, ranging from intricate tigers to camels to dinosaurs, and is perfect for experimenting with the box of colored pencils you bought last year. And if you need inspiration for how to color your pictures, there’s also a section of incredible artwork completed by Kerby’s fans, including comments from Kerby on why each coloring approach works so well.

    Worlds of Wonder

Another one of our favorite coloring books, we love relaxing by coloring in new worlds. Bestselling artist Johanna Basford has produced a series of fantastical inkscapes that will transport you to tree-top castles and mystical villages. And each image has her signature botanicals, creating gorgeous landscapes for you to color in. This is really the perfect coloring book to take to your local park for an outdoor coloring session or to gift to your fantasy-loving friend to let them know you’re still thinking about them, even if you haven’t seen each other in over a year.

    The Joy of Movement

If you’re anything like us, you probably spent your winter inside, huddled under a blanket, watching The Queen’s Gambit, cheesy Christmas movies, and The Great British Baking Show. Now that there’s no longer a foot of snow on the ground, we’re definitely beginning to think about getting back to exercising, and we’ve turned to Kelly McGonigal’s The Joy of Movement for inspiration. We love this book because it isn’t a lecture on why we should exercise. Instead, it’s a celebration of movement and how it can be a source of joy instead of a chore. We’re even thinking about downloading the audiobook, so we can listen to it while we’re walking, running, and hitting the gym.
